BERNADETTE ROBINSON TO STAR IN MTC 2010 SEASON

The Melbourne Theatre Company has announced that Melbourne singer Bernadette Robinson is to star in a one-woman play with music as part of its 2010 season.

‘Songs For Nobodies’
has been written especially for Bernadette by acclaimed Australian playwright Johanna Murray-Smith and will be directed by MTC Artistic Director, Simon Phillips. The duo created the spectacularly successful ‘Bombshells’ for Caroline O’Connor in 2002.

In ‘Songs For Nobodies’, we meet five anonymous women, whose brushes with fame had a profound effect on their lives, interleaved with the songs that gave them heart.

Launching the MTC season for 2010, Simon Phillips commented:
"Ever since I sat stunned at a Bernadette Robinson concert not believing my ears, I wanted to create a show for her, something that put her miraculous ability to reincarnate the great singing voices of the past into a rich theatrical context."

‘Songs For Nobodies’ opens on November 5, 2010 at the Fairfax Theatre in the Victorian Arts Centre. Click here for more information.
